March 1, 2010 - The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) issued a request on Feb. 23, 2010 for public submissions on recommendations for an improved intellectual property enforcement strategy. The action is part of OMB's implementation of the Prioritizing Resources and Organization for Intellectual Property Act of 2008. This act created the position of Intellectual Property Coordinator (IPEC) within the Executive Office of the President to coordinate the development of an administration strategy for enforcement against intellectual property infringement. IPEC is currently working with an interagency advisory committee to develop this strategy.
In the Federal Register Notice, OMB is requesting public comment regarding the costs to the U.S. economy resulting from intellectual property violations, and the threats to public health and safety created by infringement. OMB is further requesting detailed information from the public regarding the objectives and content of the Joint Strategic Plan and other recommendations for improving the government's intellectual property enforcement efforts.
Public submissions must be received by March 24, 2010 and should be sent electronically to
intellectualproperty@omb.eop.gov. For a copy of the Federal Register Notice, visit
